The 2015 Clos Rene, perhaps the best Pomerol cru to the west of the appellation, has a fragrant bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, rose petal and mineral scents that are very nicely focused and display good vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite classic in style (as Clos Rene usually is) but with plenty of freshness on the cedar and tobacco-tinged finish. This is a very promising Pomerol that deserves 4 or 5 years in bottle.
