We worked with Jancis Robinson and her team again this year to calculate the en primeur proto-prices, which we define as the price at which we believe the châteaux need to release their wines in order to make en primeur worthwhile and attractive for the consumer.

The 70 or so wines in the table are those that are most commonly bought en primeur, according to our data.

The proto-prices take into account the price at which consumers can currently buy back-vintages that Julia Harding considers to be useful relative benchmarks for 2018 (here 2009, 2010, 2015 and 2016).
